Our Story

A word from our President...Wife and Mom. In 1993 the ever-adventurous Larry Moyer was portraying a Belsnickel at a Colonial Christmas Village as a favor for me, his wife, Sally. I had organized festivities for tourists visiting the Perry Country, PA area over the holidays.

Belsnickel means “trickster in furs” (really ironic, considering what happened next) and is similar in appearance to a woodland Santa and similar in behavior to a Halloween trick or treater.  Those who know Larry find this to be a really accurate description of him, in or out of costume.

A man called to ask me where he could find an authentic-looking Santa costume to use in playing a practical joke on one of his friends.

Would a Belsnickel costume work?  Larry loves a good joke!

Well, the joke was on all of us, because (sparing you the long & involved details) as a result of helping this guy pull off the practical joke, Belsnickel Enterprises was born.

Larry and I had other jobs, and our daughter, Michele, was just finishing finals at college that spring.  Someone had suggested that we try marketing some sleigh bell designs (the “offspring” of that December prank) at a wholesale market in June.

Although our family had occasionally prayed for something to do together, we really did not think that a bell business would be the answer.

God obviously had another plan.

We participated in that first show and developed relationships with several stores and catalogs to which we continue to sell our products.

Suddenly we had become “The Bell People,” and were finding ourselves completely immersed in our new business.

Today over 1000 types of Belsnickel Bells are sold worldwide through stores and catalogs.  They retail from about $2.00 to about $400.00.

Our company is based in Perry Country, PA, and is comprised of our immediate family, some extended family, and a small group of wonderful employees.

We continue to strive for excellence in our product quality and variety and in our service to you, our valued customers.

We welcome your comments and suggestions and hope that you enjoy your visit to our website.

May God richly bless you and your loved ones.
